SSI Rescue Diver – Become a More Confident, Prepared Diver
Often described as one of the most challenging yet rewarding courses in recreational diving, the SSI Rescue Diver course takes your skills to a whole new level. It’s designed to prepare you not just to help yourself in difficult situations underwater—but also to recognize, manage, and prevent potential problems in others.
This course builds upon everything you’ve learned so far and sharpens your awareness as a diver. You’ll expand your understanding of diver safety, stress recognition, and emergency response, all while gaining the confidence to stay calm and act decisively under pressure.
What You Will Learn
The Rescue Diver course covers a wide range of scenarios both above and below the surface. You’ll learn how to:
- Recognize stress in yourself and other divers
- Assist tired or panicked divers at the surface
- Perform underwater search and recovery procedures
- Respond effectively to unresponsive divers
- Manage emergency situations with a clear plan of action
These skills are developed through a combination of theory sessions, controlled skill practice, and realistic scenario-based exercises—all under the guidance of our experienced SSI instructors.
Course Structure & Requirements
The course typically takes 2 to 3 days and includes confined water sessions as well as open water training. You’ll need to hold a valid First Aid / CPR certification, such as SSI Emergency First Response, as a prerequisite.
Throughout the course, you’ll not only build technical skills but also develop situational awareness and the ability to lead with calm confidence. By the end of your training, you’ll be equipped to make smart decisions, take control in critical moments, and become a true asset to any dive team.
Whether you dive for fun, travel, or plan to go pro, the SSI Rescue Diver certification is a vital step on your journey—and one that changes how you dive forever.
