Caves and Natural Pools in a Marine Reserve
The dive site Los Abrigos Pools is located in a protected nature reserve, about 17 km west of our dive center. We reach it via jeep, mostly following a marked coastal sand track—a scenic route that adds to the feeling of adventure.
The entry point lies in a secluded bay with a small beach, offering a quiet and natural setting. Once in the water, you’ll explore a volcanic seascape rich in octopuses and moray eels, often hiding among the rocks.
What makes this site truly unique are its natural pools and interconnected caves, accessible through various underwater openings. These create a playful, labyrinth-like experience that’s ideal for divers who enjoy exploring enclosed spaces with natural light effects.
Due to the site’s layout and structure, good buoyancy control and situational awareness are helpful—making Los Abrigos Pools best suited for divers with some experience. It’s a rewarding spot for those seeking something different and atmospheric beneath the surface.
