Wreck Diving on a Purpose-Sunk Tugboat
Located about 60 km from our dive center, the wreck of Tabaiba is one of the few fully intact wrecks on the island—making it a true highlight for experienced divers. We reach the site in around 45 minutes by minibus or jeep.
Entry is via a sturdy ladder from the shore. After a short swim, we arrive at a former tugboat, which was purposefully sunk close to the coast to create an artificial reef. The vessel lies on a sandy seabed at 30 to 35 meters, surrounded by shoals of fish and ideal for deep training or exploration dives.
Due to the depth and logistics, Tabaiba is reserved for day trips with a minimum of 4 participants. These excursions always include a second dive, typically at another nearby site on the return journey—such as Las Eras, El Porís, or Abades.
This well-preserved wreck offers atmospheric diving, technical challenge, and a glimpse into how marine life can reclaim a man-made structure in the depths.
