A Fairytale of Lava and Light
Located within a protected nature reserve, Yellow Mountain (Montaña Amarilla) lies about 15 km west of our dive center and is reached in just 15 minutes by jeep or minibus. The dive site offers two easy entry points—either from the beach or via a ladder platform.
Beneath the surface unfolds an almost surreal landscape: A snow-white sandy seabed sets the stage, interrupted by sudden lava cliffs, arches, and canyons that rise dramatically from the ground—like a hidden city sculpted by nature.
The cooled lava has created tunnels, overhangs, and winding passages, offering a playground for underwater exploration. These structures provide ideal hiding places for moray eels and support a wide range of reef life.
Thanks to its unique topography and light conditions, Yellow Mountain is especially popular with underwater photographers and divers who enjoy slow, detailed exploration in a setting that feels both otherworldly and inviting.
